After many years of searching and sifting, this family began to unravel the emotional trauma brought on by their son's Autism and grand mal seizures from 7 months old until today at 21 years old. So compelling were their experiences that the Puzzle Boy's mother wrote a book that shares her personal journey of tragedy, trial, and triumph. Even beyond the book they share here, what they learn as they live everyday with Autism.

The Puzzle Boy is about an incredible journey from the birth of hopes and dreams for our son, Seth, to the dashing of those dreams that were swallowed up and enveloped within seizures and autism. With no embellishments or exaggerations, my inner most feelings of defeat and despair will be revealed. This affected me to the very core of my being along with my faith and trust in a God who I thought cared and could never let such a thing like this happen to one of His own. Did He love me? Was I being punished for some misdeed?

This real life drama continues to unfold over sixteen more years until I gradually accepted that what we were and are going through is an actual Gift from God! Along with that came peace, happiness and powerful, unconditional love. Searching and trying everything under the sun finally caused me to realize who really needed curing. It was me. Read to find out why!

We are not about cures although we have strove for that very thing. What we got in return was a beautiful character and unconditional love from our child. Although we are not about cures, we have definitely found through trial and error many good things that help to accentuate health, clearness of mind and behavior. We have also found out about too many things that will keep sucking your money with seeming results, but do not work. Beware!

It is very difficult to put every waking moment for 20 years into a life story. We are covering the real life drama of 21 years in a few pages of writing, but I hope to encourage you on your journey through autism, seizures or any other malady you are in the midst of.

It is my sincere desire that you will be encouraged, strengthened and will find your own place of peace amidst the deepest crises of your life!

"This is an extraordinary story of a mother's love for her son! You will cry with her and hurt with her. You will feel her anger and hopeless frustration with those arrogant doctors. You will rejoice with her when she discovers some things that actually work for her puzzle boy. You will exult with her when she finds God’s providence along the way. You will be inspired by the husband and daughter who were their support system. Finally, for those of you who know about autism first hand, hold on to hope for your own solutions. This book could be just what you need!"

"I just finished reading The Puzzle Boy written by Nancy Clayburn. This book was clearly written by a very caring, loving, and determined Mom who did everything in her power to find out what was wrong with her son and obtain treatment for his "unknown" condition. It is very obvious that Nancy wrote this book from her heart and with the intention of sharing information with others who have autistic children and passing on helpful hints. Individuals who have never dealt with autisim have no idea what parents go through when caring for an autistic child. The Puzzle Boy is a clearly written book and an invaluable resource for individuals dealing with autistic children. I highly recommend it!"
